The generator works by first shuffling the list of names using the Fisher-Yates shuffle algorithm, which produces a uniformly random permutation. It then distributes the shuffled names round-robin style across the requested number of teams. This ensures that the teams are balanced: no team has more than one extra member compared to any other team. For example, with 23 names and 4 teams, the algorithm assigns names sequentially: person 1 to Team 1, person 2 to Team 2, person 3 to Team 3, person 4 to Team 4, person 5 to Team 1, and so on. This results in teams of sizes 6, 6, 6, and 5. Because the shuffle is random each time, every run produces a different team composition. The tool also handles edge cases: fewer names than teams results in some empty teams, and one team results in all names in one group.How to use

If you need specific team sizes rather than a fixed number of teams, adjust the team count until the sizes match your needs. For large groups, copy the name list from a spreadsheet for faster entry. Teams work best when they have at least 3 members each.
