How it works

The salary conversion starts from whichever pay period you enter. If you enter an hourly rate, it multiplies by your weekly hours and 52 weeks to get the annual figure. Daily, weekly, and monthly values are derived from the annual total. All calculations use standard assumptions: 40 hours/week, 5 days/week, 52 weeks/year, and 4.33 weeks/month for monthly equivalents.

Annual Salary = Hourly Rate x Hours/Week x 52

Example: $25/hour x 40 hours x 52 weeks = $52,000/year.

What's the difference between gross and net salary?

Gross salary is your total earnings before deductions. Net salary (take-home pay) is what you receive after taxes, insurance, and retirement contributions. This calculator shows gross figures only.

How many work hours in a year?

Standard full-time: 2,080 hours (40 hours x 52 weeks). This is the most common figure used in salary conversion.

Tips & Advice

When comparing job offers, always convert both to annual salary for a fair comparison. Remember that salaried positions may include benefits (health insurance, retirement matching, paid time off) that aren't reflected in the hourly rate. Use our hourly to salary converter as a starting point, then factor in the total compensation package including bonuses and benefits for a complete picture.
